Privacy policy
Version 1.1. Effective October 12, 2026.
Who we are
Samoony is a service of OmniCite Inc., a federal corporation under the Canada Business Corporations Act (corporation number 1812227-0), with its registered office at c/o Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, 225 6 Ave SW, Suite 2700, Calgary, AB T2P 1N2, Canada.
This policy covers personal information we handle through samoony.com, the pages we publish at samoony.com/@handle, and the work we do on a creator's behalf with third party sites. We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
This policy does not cover the social platforms you post on, the third party sites that list or mention you, or any site that links to a Samoony page.
What we collect
You give us directly when you sign up: your first name, an optional creator name, your email address and sign-in identity, your social handles, your chosen Samoony handle, the topics you cover, your city, your confirmation that you are 18 or over, and a record of your consent with its version and the date and time you gave it.
We gather from public sources: your public profile details, your public posts with their captions, images and dates, the places and businesses you mention, and the public creator name, handle and topic of other creators in your city and topic.
We generate: a written description of your work, the topics you are known for, the places you cover, a selection of your recent posts, and a short comparison with two other creators.
We collect automatically: standard server and security logs, including IP address, browser type and pages requested.
Where it comes from
Your page is built from your public social profiles. For Instagram, we use a third party search service that retrieves what anyone can see without logging in. For YouTube, we use YouTube API Services. For TikTok, you connect your account once through TikTok's own sign in, described below. We never see or store your passwords, and we never post as you.
To confirm you own the handle you give us, we either check your public Instagram bio once for a short code we give you, or confirm it when you connect the account through the platform's own sign in. Where neither is possible, we confirm it with you directly. We also look up the businesses and places you mention through a mapping service to confirm their names and addresses.
Connected accounts
When you connect your TikTok account, TikTok shows you what Samoony is asking to see and lets you approve it. We ask only for your profile details (display name, profile picture, username and bio) and your public videos with their captions and dates.
You connect once. After that, we use this access to confirm the account is yours and to keep your Samoony page up to date, without you needing to do anything else. We cannot post for you, send messages, or see private videos or drafts.
You can disconnect at any time in TikTok's settings or by writing to getsamoony@gmail.com. When you disconnect, we stop reading your TikTok account and delete the access TikTok gave us. Content already on your approved page stays until you change it or take your page down.
YouTube
Samoony uses YouTube API Services to read public channel and video information. By giving us your YouTube handle, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms. Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy describes how Google handles information. We refresh the YouTube information we hold regularly, and you can remove your YouTube handle at any time by writing to getsamoony@gmail.com.
Why we collect it
We use your information only to build your page, publish it at samoony.com/@handle, keep it current, confirm you own your handle, run your account, get you listed and mentioned on third party sites, and keep the service secure.
A Samoony page is built to be found. It is public, open to search engines, and intended to be read and cited by AI assistants.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising.
Your consent
We ask for your consent before we build anything, and no page about you is published until you have seen it and approved it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to getsamoony@gmail.com or using the removal link on your page. We will take your page down, stop rebuilding it, and withdraw the listings we created for you where the site allows. Withdrawing consent does not undo what was lawfully done before.
Automatic updates
After you approve your first page, we rebuild it periodically from your recent public posts, and updates publish automatically when they pass our checks. We email you each time with a link to see the change and an option to undo it. Updates that would remove a significant part of your page are held for human review. You can turn off automatic updates or take your page down at any time.
What we never publish
Even if you have posted it publicly, we never put these on a Samoony page: health information, medical conditions or medications; religion or ethnicity, stated or inferred; the names of private individuals, including family; family tributes or bereavements; anything about a person under 18. Where you describe food as meeting a religious dietary standard, we repeat that only as your description of the food.
Other creators named on a page. Each page includes a short comparison naming two other creators in the same city and topic, using only their public creator name, handle and a short description of their content. If you are named on a Samoony page and want to be removed, write to getsamoony@gmail.com and we will remove you and exclude you from future comparisons.
Who else handles your information
We use service providers for hosting, sign-in, public profile retrieval, language processing and place lookup, and we receive information from the platforms you connect. Each handles only what it needs and only on our instructions. With your permission, we share what is on your page with third party sites to get you listed and mentioned. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
Everything on your page is public. Search engines, AI assistants and anyone else can read, copy and store it, and we cannot recall copies once they exist.
Processing outside Canada. Our providers operate primarily in the United States. Your information is stored and processed there and is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and page while your account is open. When you withdraw consent or close your account, we remove your page and delete your account information within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. We keep your consent record for 2 years after your account closes. We keep earlier versions of your page while your account is open so that undo works. Server logs are kept for 90 days.
We cannot delete copies held by search engines, AI systems or other third parties, though we will ask the major search engines to remove your page from their index.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or complain. Write to getsamoony@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days and tell you in advance if we need longer. We may need to confirm your identity first.
If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
How we protect it
We use encrypted connections, restrict access to staff who need it, and keep testing and live data separate. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.
Age
Samoony is for people 18 and over. If we learn we hold information about someone under 18, we delete it and remove any page built from it. Tell us at getsamoony@gmail.com.
